Season1 of Ginny & Georgia focuses on Georgia starting a new life with her kids. After the sudden and unexpected death of her husband, free-spiriting and young mom, Georgia moves her two kids to Wellsbury, Massachusetts to start fresh. As Georgia is focused on keeping her past life a secret, Ginny is starting a new school (again) and finding where she belongs. On her first day, Ginny meets classmate and neighbor, Maxine “Max” Baker who introduces Ginny to her friends. With the addition of Ginny, their group is know known as “M.A.N.G” – the name coming from each girl’s first initial, Max, Abby, Norah and Ginny. Max later introduces Ginny to her twin brother, Marcus. The two have an instant connection and start meeting up behind everyone’s back. While Ginny is figuring out how to navigate her new life and friendship, Georgia works her way into a job at the Mayor’s office (and his heart).

The first season had by an all-female creative team, including first-time showrunner/executive producer Debra J. Fisher, first-time creator/executive producer Sarah Lampert, and director/executive producer Anya Adams. Ginny & Georgia debuted at #4 on Netflix’s Top 10 List and reached the #1 spot by March 2021. Reported on April 19, 2021, the show had received over 52 million views which made it land a spot on the Top 10 list in 87 countries, being #1 in 46 countries including Australia, Brazil, Kenya and the U.S.

Filming for the first season took place from August 14, 2019 to Dec 10, 2019. While most exterior shots were filmed on location in Toronto, Ontario (Canada), most used (interior) sets were built and filmed on a sound stage.

Fun fact: In the locker room showers when Marcus & Ginny are joking around with each, Marcus breaks out an Australian accent which is just an exaggeration of the actor’s (Felix’s) own accent since he is Australian.
